It so happens that we used to have one of these ferocious wild animals living under our roof. These days, this female grizzly can be spotted in Missoula, attending the University of Montana.

As one who knows this sometimes grumpy bear, I warn you to keep your distance - and only approach if eye contact is rewarded with a smile. As a starving college grizzly, the offer of a free meal may get you 30 minutes of conversation. Be warned however, say the wrong thing and you'll hear a growl that can scare male grizzlies to cover.

Should you happen to spot this grizzly in the wilds of Missoula, tell her that her parents miss her and are very proud of her. Warning... if she is hibernating, do NOT disturb her. I once received a terrible mauling because I disturbed her sleep. Teddy Bears, anyone?
